The estate and the wine |

This is a tiny, ultra-confidential estate that has only recently started catching the attention of critics and savvy wine lovers. Yet Jean-Philippe Agisson is no newcomer — after working with Alphonse Mellot and Domaine Dagueneau, he has spent the past 15 years honing an unshakable mastery of sauvignon. The wines he crafts are nothing short of astonishing in their finesse and elegance.
These are small gems of precision, produced from just 1 hectare of white soils in Sancerre and 0.5 hectare in Tracy-sur-Loire under the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. A pocket-sized vineyard, farmed organically and biodynamically, that Jean-Philippe and his wife Stéphanie tend like a garden. Quantities are, of course, tiny — and those who get there first will be the first to celebrate. |

From a small harvest due to spring frost, the 2021 Pouilly-Fumé La Belle Endormie White shows the perfectly chiselled profile of the vintage, wrapped in a savoury texture that carries through to a long, focused finish. A well-balanced sauvignon, free of any showiness, and a fine achievement to enjoy now or cellar. Rated 92/100 by Bettane + Desseauve. |
